Photographer Captures Snow-bound New York

After a state of emergency was declared across the East Coast of the US because of a blizzard, thousands of people were left with no electricity in Massachusetts. A photo journalist from NBC, Thomas Prior shot a photo series featuring New York residents’ preparation for the upcoming blizzard.

Weather forecasters announced a blizzard warning for New York. It was expected that the city would follow the path of Boston and Portland, ME, where snow levels reached 60 centimeters. Authorities of New York closed schools, offices, some of cafes and even UN Headquarters. However life in city goes on. Prior has shown how despite of the alarming forecast, residents of New York are getting organized for clearing snow and enjoying their day off in Central Park.
