Another Crimea Website Hacked, Photographers Told to Expect Revenge

Instead of the original main page, users could see a static page with a short message and a Turkish flag in the background.

Website of the infamous project, Another Crimea, which is a collaboration of photographers from Magnum, VII, and Noor, was hacked by unidentified hackers. Instead of the original main page, users could see a static page with a short message and a Turkish flag in the background.

“Crimea is the Turkish Empire! Turks are with Ukraine against Russia! Photographers wait for revenge!”, — the message said.

The project about Crimea that was presented in March, 2016, caused a lot of discussions about violation of journalistic standards: the authors forgot to mention such facts as seizure of Ukrainian ships and military bases by the Russian military and security forces, the unrecognized referendum to “join” Russia, and repressions against pro-Ukrainian activists.

Bird In Flight published an article earlier, where photographers shared their opinions on Another Crimea project.
