Blog of the Day: GIFs on Twitter Explain How Japanese Furniture Is Built
Traditional Japanese furniture that dates back to the 7th century is assembled without nails, screws, or adhesives. All details are connected through a complicated system of grooves, ledges, and pins. The author of the Twitter blog told Spoon & Tamago that this art has not been studied very well, because the carpenter families do not reveal their secrets.
Several years ago, he found a book about Japanese carpentry and got interested in learning to assemble it. However, he couldn’t find easy-to-understand schemes in books, so decided to create them himself in the free program called Fusion 360.
The author has been writing the blog since February, he has currently published 80 schemes with explanations.
