Studio Shows the ‘Resurrection’ of an Actor Who Died in 1994 with the Help of CGI

Peter Cushing who played Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin in one of the Star Wars movies, passed away 23 years ago. But he still appears in Rogue One, which was released in 2016.

ILM, a studio that developed visual effects for Rogue One, a spin-off of the Star Wars published a short video, which shows the ‘resurrection’ of the actor who died 23 years ago, Slate writes.

The plot of the Rogue One unfolds shortly before the events described in the different part of the saga, which was released in 1977: the movies have common elements of storyline and common characters. One of them is Grand Moff Tarkin who was once played by Peter Cushing.

The actor passed away in 1994, but this did not prevent him to be featured in the movie shot in 2016: the authors of the Rogue One decided to recreate Cushing’s appearance with the help of visual effects.

To play Tarkin on set, they casted another British actor, Guy Henry, 56. With the help of CGI, they made his face look as much as possible like Cushing’s.
