Thousands of People from over 100 Countries Chose the ‘Favorite Color in the World’

And the winner is Marrs Green — a deep-green hue with a tinge of blue.

British paper company G. F. Smith studied color preferences of people from over 100 countries and found the most loved color in the world. Refinery29 writes that the results of the study show that this is a blue-green color called Marrs Green — for designer Annie Mars who offered it for the contest. ‘The favorite color of the world’ was determined by voting.

“I’m absolutely delighted to have picked the ‘World’s Favourite Colour’!” Marrs says. “The color was inspired by the landscape that surrounds me at home in Scotland, and that deep-green hue with a tinge of blue has always been a favorite of mine.”

Caroline Till, the editor for Viewpoint Colour Magazine, said the the choice that the respondents made is not accidental: people are inclined to like colors that can provide a distraction from everyday worries. “As the contemporary condition of the ‘nature deficit’ rises in the context of increasingly urban and digital lifestyles, we seek to reconnect with the natural world. We crave the calming tranquility of green and its association with the reassuring certainty of nature’s cycles,” Till thinks.
