56th la Biennale di Venezia on Instagram
On Saturday, May 9th, 56th Biennale of contemporary art opened in Venice. The International Art Exhibition was titled “All the World’s Futures.” It was curated by Nigerian art critic, Okwui Enwezor.
Winners of the prestigious Golden Lion were announced on the first day of the event. 66-year-old American artist Adrian Piper won the the Golden Lion for her interactive project “The Probable Trust Registry: The Rules of the Game #1-3.” Visitors were invited to commit to one personal manifesto for living in the world from now on: “I will always be too expensive to buy,” “I will always mean what I say,” and “I will always say what I am doing to do.”
The Golden Lion for Best National Participation was awarded to the Republic of Armenia for the project “Armenity/Haiyutioun. Contemporary artists from the Armenian Diaspora.”
The Venice Bienniale will last until November 22nd.
