Christie’s to Auction a $100 mln-worth Modigliani Painting
Reclining Nude may become the most expensive work of the Italian master.
Christie’s is planning to action the Reclining Nude by Amedeo Modigliani. The organizers of the auctions expect to sell the painting that was finished in 1918 for no less than $100 mln.
In case someone pays for the painting the expected amount, it will become the most expensive of Modigliani’s works that were ever sold.
ArtNet reports, that the auction will be held on November 9 in New York, as part of the special-themed sale The Artist’s Muse.
Reclining Nude is one of the paintings in the series the painter created on commission from his friend Leopold Zborowski. The series was first exhibited in the Berthe Weill gallery in Paris about 100 years ago. It caused a public outcry and was deemed improper.
