Photos from WWI Recaptured with Modern Day Service Personnel

The project is a part of Poppy Appeal 2015 campaign to raise support for the British military.

Commissioned by the Royal British Legion, the Edward Reeves studio recreated the photographs of soldiers from World War I with modern day service men and women, PetaPixel writes. The project is a part of Poppy Appeal 2015 campaign to raise support for the British military.

The E. Reeves studio was founded in 1858 and is one of the oldest in the world: many soldiers ordered pictures there before heading off to war. Now the great-grandson of the photographer, who shot the original photographs, recreated them with modern service personnel using the same large format camera.
