Infographic of the Day: Who Marries Whom in the US
Bloomberg released an interactive infographic, Who Marries Whom, where they showed who people choose to marry based on their own profession.
The chart includes about five hundred of the most popular professions: traditionally ‘male’ professions on its left side, and those that employ mainly women on its right side. When you put a cursor over one of the professions, you see arrows that signify the most common connections.
The authors point out that one of the interesting conclusions they made is that women with a high level of income more often choose men who are their equals economically, whereas men are more relaxed about marrying women who work less lucrative jobs.
Who Marries Whom is based on data from the United States Census Bureau and includes data on three and a half million American families.
