Winners of Krappy Kamera Competition Announced
The contest was won by American photographer Ellen O’Connell. Her photo, Diver, was chosen as the best by the jury. Cody Swanson with his work Beluga Point Ferris Wheel placed second, and Priscilla Kanady placed third. Several other photographers received honorable mention.
The organizers of the Krappy Kamera Competition say that one of the main goals of their contest is to show that modern equipment is not the most important thing to create valuable and talented works.
“In today’s digitally driven world, manufactured perfection tends to be the norm. But in the world of “krappy” plastic and pinhole cameras, the lack of technical control allows for unforeseen imperfections such as light leaks, vignettes and blurs that can transform what may have been an average image into something spectacular,” — Susan Burnstine, a juror of the contest, says.
