This makes Amedeo Modigliani's work the second most expensive artwork ever sold at the auction.
During the auction held by Christie’s, which took place on November 9 in New York City, Nu Couche by Amedeo Modigliani was sold for $170 mln, Artnet writes.
In this way the painting created by the Italian artist in 1918 became one of the most expensive art works ever sold at the auction. The only artwork that was sold for a higher price was Women of Algiers (Version O) by Pablo Picasso, which was bought for $179 mln in May 2015.
The auction organizers earned a total of $491 mln. Not only Nu Couche, but also Roy Lichtenstein’s Nurse was also sold at a high price.
