NASA Published New Photos of Pluto

On September 5, New Horizons spacecraft started sending to Earth the data collected during the flyby of the Pluto system. NASA published the first photographs they received.

New Horizons Principal Investigator Alan Stern said that the images demonstrated a diversity of landforms and complexity of processes on the surface of the dwarf planet: “If an artist had painted this Pluto before our flyby, I probably would have called it over the top” – he added.

New Horizons spacecraft was launched in 2006 to investigate Pluto surface, and in July 2015 was the closest possible to the dwarf planet.
