Teen Cancer Patient Receives Half Billion Photos of Dogs

Facebook users send hundreds of pet photos to show their support to a 16 year old boy who is in chemotherapy.

A friend of the mother of a teen cancer patient started a Facebook group to support the boy. For the first five days people posted more than half million photos of their dogs.

Facebook group Photo Doggies for Anthony was created on December 31, 2014 by Roberta Lucero-Koron to help the son of her friend to fight acute lymphoblastic leukemia. In a description, Roberta explains that 16 year old Anthony Lyons felt better during dog visits, which were interrupted because of his admission to hospital. Photos of animals also have positive effects, like the dogs themselves.

More than 760 people have joined the group in the first five days. A local TV channel made a cover about the story.
