A Book with Never Published Before Photographs of David Bowie Is Released

The photographs were taken by Steve Schapiro in mid-1970s.

PowerHouse Books,a New York City-based publisher, released a book that has dozens of photographs of David Bowie that have never been published before, taken more than 40 years ago by an American photographer Steve Schapiro, The Huffington Post writes.

Some of the photographs, which were taken during the shoot in one of the Los Angeles studios in mid-1970s, later became album covers (for instance, for albums Station to Station or Low). However, most of them are published for the first time.

“From the moment Bowie arrived, we seemed to hit it off. Incredibly intelligent, calm, and filled with ideas, — Schapiro recalls. — When David heard that I had photographed Buster Keaton, one of his greatest heroes, we instantly became friends.”
