On-line Archive Of Rare Cameras In France

The collection contains images of 10,000 photo cameras, 697 lenses and 3,800 accessories.

According to the Petapixel, the French collector Sylvain Halgand created an on-line encyclopedia of antique photo techniques Collection Appareils.

The archive contains catalogues with the images of rare cameras, lenses, speedlights, types of film, tripods, and other accessories. Each object is tagged with the name, year when it was produced, and sometimes has information on the price, country of origin, names of the owners or just interesting facts.

Halgand also uploaded the old adds, and boxes in which the cameras were packed, covers from the Popular Photograpy and Cyclope magazines.

All the information on the web-site is posted in French. Halgand is looking for volunteers to create an English version of the archive and invites people around the world to contribute to the project’s development.
