Photo Magazine Analyses Cameras Used By WPP Winners

Almost one third of the winning images of World Press Photo 2014 were captured using Canon 5D Mark III.

According to the analysis made by Spanish photo-site, Quesabesde, the majority of winners of the World Press Photo competition use Canon cameras for work.

Quesabesde collected EXIF-data of 38 winning images and broke down the findings into a diagram writes Petapixel. The most used brands are Canon (23 photos) and Nikon (7 photos). The most popular models of photojournalists are Canon 5D Mark III (11 images) and Canon 1D X (6 images).

According to the results of a study on the most common equipment used by the winners of the Reuters’95 competition in 2012, the most popular equipment became predecessors of the most popular equipment this year: Canon 1D Mark IV (Predecessor of 1D X) took the first place and Canon 5D Mark II (predecessor 5D Mark III) tool second place.
