The Other Side: What Addiction to the Fictional World Looks Like
Jorge Pérez Higuera thinks that we have an addiction to technology, and gadget culture is so fast that we don’t have the time to think about it carefully. Different people grow up watching the same animations and TV series, and become the same, like robots.
Spanish photographer, lives in Valencia. Studied visual art at the Complutense University of Madrid. Has focused on the issue of technology addiction in the past several years. Exhibited his works in the US, Mexico, Spain, and Portugal. Second prize at the international photo contest ExperimentoBio in 2014.

We grow up thinking a happy life is having a pack: a wife, children, a house, a dog, and a swimming pool. Almost all people dream of the same, which is curious because we are all different. We grow up thinking surreal reality is real life, and now, we continue doing it when we share our best moments on our social media platforms. My work doesn’t represent the future, it represents the present.
We behave as if we were robots, like at the end of Blade Runner. It was with these thoughts that I created The Other Side series. I actually didn’t have a group of actors, but instead I had only one as I only own one costume. The rest of the characters are added using photo montage. It makes each photograph a new challenge, because you never see the complete result while you are shooting with the camera and you always have to imagine where every character will be located, leaving them enough space to be added later on.
