Movie Critics Selected 100 Best Movies of the 21st Century

BBC surveyed 177 movie experts from all over the world.

BBC published a rating of 100 best movies of the 21st century compiled based on opinions of 177 movie critics from all over the world, Quartz writes.

The three tops films are Mulholland Drive by David Lynch, In the Mood for Love by Wong Kar-wai, and There Will Be Blood by Paul Thomas Anderson. Other films that were also often mentioned by the experts include Boyhood by Richard Linklater, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind by Michel Gondry, and No Country for Old Men by Coen brothers.

The authors say that they wanted to compile this rating because of the constant talks of the death of cinema: “Some film journalists even think the movie star is a thing of the past. Perhaps the fault lies not in our movie stars, but in ourselves. If you can’t find masterpieces amid the blockbuster flotsam, you simply aren’t looking hard enough.”

The full list of the best movies is available on BBC website.
