Artist Colors Internetopia

Ideologist of the collective work has spent three months on color version.

UK artist Benjamin Redford presented the colored version of Internetopia, a drawing made by several hundred people.

To create the internet drawing, Radfold launched a Kickstarter campaign asking participants to reserve small cubes of space on the canvas for $1 each. The artists sold more than 3,000 cubes of space and in three months presented a 2×1,5m drawing showing objects of contemporary pop-culture.

He needed another 6 months to color the drawing, says The Next Web. First, the artist considered color preferences of all the participants, but then he decided to color it his own way. “It was mostly instinct. I wanted to restrict the color palette though, so I used a classic 64 color palette lifted from vintage comics — something I was brought up on and still love to this day,” said Redford.

You can buy Internetopia prints on the website of the project. Black-and-white prints are available for £80 each, color prints for £100 each.
