Site That Detects Nudity in Photos is Created

Algorithm detects the nudity by color, shape and size.

Research company Algorithmia released Isitnude.com, a site that detect nudity in photos. Developers created an algorithm by combining instruments that define skin color, size of the skin patches and the location in the picture.
The idea behind the technology is to help social networks detect inappropriate content. “A customer came to us trying to run a site that needs to be kid-friendly,” said Algorithmia CTO Kenny Daniel to Wired.com.

According to the developers, Isitnude.com is a marketing the site to demonstrate the possibilities of the algorithm. Thus, they admit that sometimes it does not work correctly, “.. isn’t always that accurate, since there are plenty of images with lots of skin that are perfectly innocent – think a closeup of a hand or face or someone wearing a beige dress.”
