“We were already familiar with Nick Cave, Einstürzende Neubauten, Sex Pistols and Discharge, but Sonic Youth was a breath of fresh air we craved for. It was at this show that I was set on going to New York,” recalls Eugene Hütz, a Gogol Bordello band initiator, who got a free ticket to the concert.

Sonic Youth is an American band formed in 1981 in New York. Its four constant members were Thurston Moore (vocals, guitar), Lee Ranaldo (vocals, guitar), Kim Gordon (vocals, bass, guitar) and Steve Shelley (drums). They disbanded in 2011. In 2013 a photo of the Sonic Youth concert in Kyiv was published on the band’s Facebook page.
