New Antonio Lukich film was listed in the Venice Film Festival competition line-up
According to The Ukrainian State Film Agency, the world premiere of a new film by Antonio Lukich “Luxembourg, Luxembourg” will take place at the 79th Venice International Film Festival under the HORIZONS competition programme.
“Luxembourg, Luxembourg” is the second Lukich’s feature film, preceded by ‘My Thoughts Are Silent’. The film tells a story of twin brothers trying to get their life together – up till their long-lost father pops up in it. The leading roles were performed by the members of a Kurgan and Agregat rap group – Nasirovs brothers, Ramil and Amil. The film was produced by the ForeFilms studio.
Besides, two documentaries on Ukraine will be presented out of the competition. The first is the work of the American director Evgeny Afineevsky, “Freedom on Fire: Ukraine’s Fight for Freedom”. The second is Serhiy Loznytsia’s film “The Kiev Trial”, based on the trial of war criminals in January 1946.
The 79th Venice International Film Festival will take place from August 31 to September 10, 2022. It will be opened by Noah Baumbach’s new film “White Noise” starring Adam Driver and Greta Gerwig. Among others, the festival will present the latest works of Darren Aronofsky, Alejandro González Iñárritu, Luca Guadagnino and the late Kim Ki-duk.
