Ukrainian studio develops game about Hostomel, Bucha and Mariupol occupation
Ukrainian studio Starni Games created a game called Ukraine War Stories. It takes place during the first months of the full-scale invasion. It includes three visual novels where the player needs to save their character from Russian soldiers. Ukraine War Stories is based on real events and personal experiences, including of a team member who spent a week in occupied Bucha. The end goal is to evacuate each character.
Ukraine War Stories uses real photos of the war in Ukraine. The game will be free to play and is scheduled for release in October this year. “One of our colleagues had to hide with his family in his garage basement until they finally were able to evacuate. Their house, just like many other houses in the town, was looted by Russians. He told us about the things he witnessed,” the press release says.
In Hostomel, the character is pensioner Oleksii Borysov, in Bucha, it’s Yarik Kravchenko and his sister Vika, who is a medic. The scenario of the third novel, which takes place in Mariupol, is kept secret for now.
