From photographers — to children. Bird in Flight launches a charity sale
Bird in Flight magazine launches a charity sale of 74 works of Ukrainian photographers. Organized in partnership with the Peace for Art foundation, the sale is supported by the Ensemble Ukraine association. Raised funds will be transferred to the “Posmishka UA” organization in Zaporizhzhia, which supports orphans and families with children affected by the war. Currently, Zaporizhzhia hosts a lot of refugees from Mariupol — the city, which faces one of the gravest situations in Ukraine. Refugees had to flee Mariupol under constant shelling, with no food, water, and electricity.
For this sale, every author will provide limitless access to a copy of one photo (outside the author’s circulation) as a print. The print size is 20 x 30 centimeters, the price for a copy is EUR 50. Acid-free paper Hahnemühle Photo Rag Baryta 315 gsm is used for printing.

Bird in Flight had planned to raise money for the Ukrainian army by selling the works of the local photographers right before the Russian aggression started. The charity sale was meant to take place on February 26, but on February 24 Russia started the full-scale war against Ukraine. We have returned to the idea of selling photos for charity, but now our objective is to raise money for the victims of this war.
During the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 Bird in Flight organized a similar auction, called “From photographers — to doctors”. We sold works of Ukrainian photographers, raising more than UAH 200, 000 to support the doctors.
