Why the Photos of Quickly Rotating Objects Are Distorted
Imgur user explained this happens because of the way images are captured by a digital camera.
Imgur user Hunter5625 posted an entry on his blog, where he explained the reasons behind distortion effect, which is observed in the photographs of rotating objects.
he explains that deformations happens to to the characteristics of the matrix in the digital camera: it does not capture the entire image at once, but scans it line by line, and as a result when taking photos of quickly moving objects the image is delayed.
If the object moves after one part of the matrix has created an image, the other part will be capturing it in a new position.
The author also published several animations, which explain the work of the matrix when applied to rotating objects.
