Magnum Emergency Fund 2016 Selected 18 Grantees
A total of $138,000 was granted to photographers who report on critical issues that are not getting enough attention in the international community.
In 2016, the Magnum Emergency Fund has a record number of grantees since the establishment of the Fund in 2009. 18 winners were selected from 140 applicants. The size of the grant varies from $4,000 to $12,000.
This year’s winners include Poulomi Basu with the project about the Chhaupadi ritual in Nepal, when the menstruating women are exiled to makeshift huts; Injinaash Bor with a story about modern teenage culture in Mongolia; and Katie Orlinsky with a project on the impact of climate change on the lives of people in Alaska’s villages.
