List of the Deadliest Films Topped with a Superhero Movie

GoCompare counted how many people died in the latest Hollywood movies.

British website GoCompare published a rating of the deadliest Hollywood films created in the past 70 years, The Guardian writes. The list was topped by Guardians of the Galaxy which premiered in 2014: according to the authors of the study, the death toll in the movie reached 83,871 people.

Two parts of the Lord of the Rings are also in the top ten with 4,539 deaths, 300: Rise of An Empire with 2,234 deaths, The Matrix: Revolutions with 1,647 deaths, Braveheart with 1,297 deaths, and The Avengers with 1,019 deaths.

According to the authors of the rating, one of the main discoveries they made during their study was that the deadliest movies were not horror films, but films considered to be suitable for family entertainment: many of them are at the top of the list.

It is also noted that starting from the 1940s, the number of screen deaths has been growing each decade. For instance, in the 1950s there were only four films in Hollywood that show the deaths of 50 or more people, while in the 1990s there were 119 of such films.
