Photographer Combines Photographs of the Oldest British Town Then and Now
Xav Marseille recreated photographs that were taken 80-100 years ago.
British photographer Xav Marseille presented a series where he combined archive photographs of Colchester, which is considered the oldest town in the British Isles, with contemporary images.
The photographer took the pictures from the early 20th century again from the same angle, and then combined two images with the help of Photoshop, BBC writes.
Marseille says that through his project he wanted to capture the changes in the urban environment and emphasize the connection between the present and the past. “I think people crave nostalgia. 2016 was a changing year and people relate to history now a lot more than they used to.”
