Book with Rare Color Photographs of WWII Published in Britain
The photographs included in the book were taken between 1942 and 1945.
Imperial War Museum in London published a new book, The Second World War in Color: it features color photographs of WWII, many of them have never been published earlier. Gizmodo writes that between 1942 and 1945 British photographers took about three thousand color photographs — and those of them that survived the war became a part of the Imperial War Museum archive in 1949.
“Black and white photography puts a barrier between the subject and the viewer, colour photography restores that missing clarity and impact,” author Ian Carter says. The book is available at the museum’s website for £15.
