A Picture Book about the Life of Children in Urban Ghettos Released in the US

It is made to look like a children's storybook, but it features really scary stories and illustrations.

American company VML from Kansas City released a book of stories about children living in urban ghettos who grow up seeing violence, hunger, and drug addiction. It is designed to look like a children’s story book by the style of illustrations and storytelling. Adweek writes that some of the situations described in the book Welcome to My Neighborhood happened to real people. According to the authors, they talked to children from poor districts and wrote their stories down.

The book received a Gold and a Silver Lion at Cannes (Design category), as well as a silver and bronze award in Print & Publishing category. The creators of the book accompanied it with videos where the text from the book is read aloud to the slideshow of illustrations.
