Brit Decorates House With 200,000 Christmas Lights

Alex Goodhind raises money for the hospice where his mother was treated.

Resident of Melksham (UK) spends five weeks decorating his house with Christmas lights, writes Daily Mail. For the third time, Alex Goodhind, 30, launched a campaign to raise money for a local hospice, Dorothy House, where his mother was treated.

Alex Goodhind, an electrician by profession, used 580 metres of electric cable for display lights (which he collected for over 10 years), 70 waterproof connection boxes, 2,000 cables ties and 200 metres of wires. His electricity bill rose by £1,000.

Mr Goodhind decorated his house in a similar way in 2009 and 2012. Inspired by his actions, visitors donated about £15,000.00 to the hospice. In order to not disturb his neighbors, who support the project, the lights are on between 5:30pm and 10pm.

“There’s so much work that goes into it that Alex feels it could be his last year,” says his father Colin.
