ТIME Colorized the Photographs of WWII Refugees

Syrian crisis reminded of the events of the 1940-ies.

On September 22 TIME magazine published a collection of historical photographs depicting WWII refugees in color. To colorize the photographs the magazine hired an artist from Sweden, Sanna Dullaway, who changed the black-and-white 1940-ies photos.

The authors of the project write that the photographs of Syrian, Iraqi and Afghani refugees, which we have all seen during the past several weeks, remind of the pictures of the forced migrants during WWII. More than 60 million people had to leave their homes then.

Earlier TIME published a series of restored photographs of the American Civil War.
