Neural Networks Were Taught to Generate Scary Images
The program was tested on photographs of tourist sights.
With Halloween coming up, a team of scientists from MIT launched a Nightmare Machine — a neural network taught to turn regular photographs into scary photo illustrations, Gizmodo writes.
The authors demonstrated the performance of the program on photograph of several tourist sites, edited with the help of filters generated by the Artificial Intelligence.
Internet users were invited to take part in teaching a similar neural network that would work with photographs of people. For this, they just need to rate images that they are shown as ‘scary’ or ‘not scary’.
