Link of the Day: Black-and-White Photographs in Color
Marina Amaral colorizes archive photographs from the previous century.
Brazilian artist and photo colorist Marina Amaral, 21, posts black-and-white photographs that she edits and colorizes in Photoshop on her page in Behance, My Modern Met writes. Most of the photographs that Amaral works on are portraits of famous historical figures and archive photographs that capture WWII and other iconic historical events of the previous century.
The artist says that she studies the subject in detail before colorizing each photograph: “Research is essential,” she says. “I never start a job without having gathered as much information as possible, because that’s what makes the colors historically accurate.”
