Pinterest adds messaging service

The social network is rolling out a messaging service available to users on its site and mobile apps

Pinterest users can now chat and message each other. Before they could only exchange Pins, and now the social network added the function of messaging with fairly traditional interface that can support multiple conversations in your inbox, and has the option to drop Pins into any chat window. Received Pins retain their basic functions: they can be “liked” and forwarded to others.

According to The Next Web, a large number of technology companies have upgraded to messaging in the past year, including Path, Vine and Instagram. Pinterest is hoping its own implementation will be more complimentary and relevant to its users.

Note: Pinterest is a social network where users can publish images, sort it out by subject into collections and share the content with other subscribers. Added images are called “Pins”, and the collections that store the photos are called “boards.”
