Link of the Day: Ji Lee’s Word as Image
Facebook's Communication Designer turns words into illustrations in his free time.
Artist and designer Ji Lee has not only the experience of working for Facebook, Instagram, Google, and Droga5, but also numerous personal projects. One of them is a series called Word as Image.
The author says that she started this project about 20 years ago. One time during the typography class in art school they were offered to visualize the meaning of the word through graphic elements of letters. Ji Lee hasn’t stopped doing it since. In 2011, he published a collection of illustrations, Word as Image, featuring about 100 illustrated words. In 2015, a series under the same title was released on his website.
