Blog of the Day: Old Black-and-White Photographs in Color

Olga Shyrnina published about 2,000 works on her blog.

Olga Shyrnina, a photo colorized from Moscow, posts color versions of old black-and-white photographs that she colorized herself on her Flickr page. There are currently about 2,000 works on @klimbims blog, including the photographs from the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union and pictures of Hollywood celebrities from the past century.

“The choice of a photo is almost always spontaneous. People would often offer me stories, and if I find them interesting, I work on them, — the author says. — The most important is the glance, the eyes. I try to preserve the expression, and if I succeed, the face comes alive. It is an interesting feeling when you add a detail, and suddenly a person is looking at you from the photograph.”
