Infographic of the Day: Pluto Comes into Focus

New Horizons spacecraft transmitted images of the dwarf planet captured from the distances between 200 million and 766 thousand kilometers.

On July 14, the spacecraft New Horizons arrived at the closest approach to Pluto – 12,500 kilometers. From this altitude, New Horizons will begin exploring geological and atmospheric features of the dwarf planet.

Up to the present day, the most detailed image of the dwarf planet was captured from the distance of 766,000 kilometers on July 13th, said on NASA’s Instagram page.

Last week, ABC News from Australia published an infographic Pluto Comes Into Focus featuring the New Horizons flight to the planet. The spacecraft has traveled more than 9 years and covered more than 5 billion kilometers.
