Photographer Shot a Series About Diversity of Female Beauty

Amy Herrmann photographed 100 women and is now fundraising to publish their portraits as a photo book.

Australian photographer Amy Herrmann presented a series Underneath We Are Women aimed at showing the diversity of female beauty, Mashable writes. The author says she only took photographs of her friends at first, but later decided to recruit Facebook users: many women agreed to take part in the shoot.

“I thought ‘This isn’t a project.’ But then I realised that it was something that could really help women, — the photographer says. — The bodies we see in general in the media, they’re fine. There’s nothing wrong with those bodies. But there’s not much diversity. When people can see [my images], they go ‘She’s got a caesarian scar like I do’ or whatever it is, there’s something there that’s relatable.”

Herrmann has now launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter, hoping to raise money to publish her works as a photo book.
