The authors showed the population of our planet on a 3D map.
American Museum of Natural History uploaded a six-minute video which shows how the population of the Earth has changed in the past 200,000 years — since the appearance of Homo sapiens and until the present day.
According to the data, the humanity hit the 1 billion mark only in the 19th century: since then, this number has increased by seven times and will continue to grow: the graph includes the prognosed population increase until 2100. The scientists expect the size of the population to be about 11 billion people by that time.
