Photographer Captures People on the Ruins of Their Burned Down Houses

In November 2016, several towns in the east of Tennessee got destroyed by wildfire that started near Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Gatlinburg was affected more than the other towns — the flames destroyed over two thousand buildings in the city, PetaPixel writes.
Some time after the disaster, American photographer Jeremy Cowart came up with the series called Voices of Gatlinburg and started taking pictures of the citizens in the locations where their homes used to be.
Cowart says that this way he wants to draw attention to the problems of Gatlinburg citizens and help them find funds to restore their property. The website of his project offers the stories of people featured in the project and donate money to them.
