Torrent Tracker Names the Most Pirated TV Series of 2016
Game of Thrones became the undisputed leader by the number of downloads for the fifth time in a row.
A popular torrent tracker, TorrentFreak, summed up 2016: Game of Thrones became the most pirated TV show for the fifth time in a row, Digital Trends writes. Also in the top three are Walking Dead and Westworld.
Other series that made it to list of the most popular unlicensed content are The Flash, Arrow, The Big Bang Theory, Vikings, Lucifer, Suits, and The Grand Tour, created by former hosts of Top Gear, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May.
According to the authors of the rating, the download figures remained at approximately the same level as the previous year. They say it doesn’t mean that the amount of illegally downloaded content stopped growing — but that a considerable number of users started choosing streaming services.
