Kodak to Resume Production of Ektachrome Film Because of Growing Demand

Kodak announced it will resume the production of Ektachrome film, which has been discontinued for five years — since 2012, PetaPixel writes. The decision to discontinue manufacture of this film was made due to the rapidly growing popularity of digital photography, but the trend started to reverse, the company says.

“The reintroduction of one of the most iconic films is supported by the growing popularity of analog photography and a resurgence in shooting film,” Kodak representatives say. “Sales of professional photographic films have been steadily rising over the last few years, with professionals and enthusiasts rediscovering the artistic control offered by manual processes.”

It is expected that Kodak Ektachrome will go on sale by the end of 2017.
