Link of the Day: Thousands of Color Photographs of USSR in 1950—1980s
The entire archive has about 2,800 photographs.
Thousands of photographs of USSR taken by Thomas Hammond, a professor from the University of Virginia, between the late 1950s and the early 1980s.
In this time, the professor visited Moscow, Leningrad, Kyiv, Yaroslavl, Riga, Samarkand, Pyatigorsk, and several other cities. The entire archive, which has over 2,800 photographs, is published on Box.
It became known earlier that a collection of photographs and videos was found in the home of Martin Manhoff, a former US diplomat who shot them in 1952—1954 in the USSR. Some of them have already been published online, and it is planned to upload most of the archive soon.
