Photo of the Day: Nude Dancers Submerged Underwater
American photographer Steve Richard launched a Kickstarter campaign to publish a fine art photography book, Obscuro, featuring 73 underwater nude portraits of dancers and models. After ten years of experimenting for his desired surrealistic effect, Richard began shooting the series in 2012. To create the effect, he installed a small swimming pool in this studio and shoots models submerged underwater from the height of 5 m. Richard acknowledges that technically his process cannot be considered underwater photography because he himself is not underwater, but the method is the only way he can capture the evenness of the dancers’ movements.
