Photographer Shoots Record Breaking Free Climb

Two rock-climbers with no equipment have reached the top of 900 m cheer cliff.

When rock-climbers Kevin Jorgeson and Tommy Caldwell announced that they were starting a free climb on Californian El Capitan Mountain’s Dawn Wall with no special equipment, photographer Corey Rich, who specializes in shooting extreme sports activities decided to document it, reported The Week. On January 3rd he joined the expedition, and when it was finished he was published images on Instagram from one of the most complicated climbing routes on Earth. Barack Obama congratulated the sportsmen, and Tweeded, “You remind us that anything is possible.”

Jogerson and Coldwell’s expedition lasted for 19 days. For the entire duration they slept in tents hung on Dawn Wall, and charged their mobile phones from sun batteries. The climbers used only safety ropes for climbing 900m, testing their strength and skills. They explained that the expedition was purposely planned in winter, because in the cold season the palms of the hands sweat less, so contact between shoes and the cliff is the best.

Note: El Captain, a vertical rock formation located in Yosemite National Park, California, is considered to be one of the most difficult climbs in the world, because sportsmen need to ascent a sheer cliff.
