The images are free to download and share.

The British Library published on its blog on Flickr the digitized versions of antique illustrations found in the books from 17th, 18th and 19th century.

There are about a million images in the published archive. They are sorted by themes and albums. In the collection you can find book covers, advertisements, children’s books illustrations, and old maps.

The copyright for these images has expired and they are free to download and share.

One of the representatives of the British Library says that the collection has more than 260 mln views in the two years since it has been uploaded.
