Twitter Users Stand Up for Gymnast Attacked by Body-Shamers
Internet users outraged by attacks on the Mexican gymnast Alexa Moreno who represents her country at the Rio Olympics stood up for her, Huffington Post writes.
After the Moreno’s last performance, 22-year-old endured a flurry of abusive comments where people reproached her for her unsporty looks.
“Alexa Moreno has the body of two gymnasts together, a diet before going to the Olympics would have been nice,” one the users who criticized the gymnast wrote. Others compared her with a pig and offered her to leave Olympic ambitions for the hot-dog eating championship.
In response to all the insults against Moreno, other social network users decided to support the girl, condemning body-shamers and expressing admiration of her skills.
To those body shaming #AlexaMoreno from their sofas at home, she has achieved more at 22 than you probably will in your entire life. ☺️

Alexa Moreno represented her country in several events, including vaults and uneven bars. The very fact that she made it to the Olympics is an important achievement for Mexico, as Mexican gymnasts have never been considered favorites and rarely take part in the Games.
