Mikhail Mordasov Raises Funds for His New Project about the 1917 Generation

The project, The Children of 1917, is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Russian Revolution and will introduce the people, places, and events of those days.

Russian photographer Mikhail Mordasov together with American journalist Paul Richardson launched a project called The Children of 1917, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Russian Revolution.

The Children of 1917 aims to introduce you to people whose ancestors lived in the Russian empire in 1917 and belonged to different social, national, and religious groups, had different level of education and income, and different political views. The participants will be selected so that their stories would cover the events of the time as fully as possible, and also showed how the destinies of individuals and the entire nation have shaped in the next 100 years.

It is planned that the project will yield a photo book and a documentary video, which will be released in late 2017 if the fundraising is successful. The book and the movie will be based on individual and group portraits, photographs of cities and houses, where the participants live, family stories, descriptions of famous places, and significant events related to 1917.

In addition, the authors are planning to launch a blog, where the partners and sponsors of the project will be able to observe it in the making, follow the trips and meetings with the participants, and then see the work on the book and the movie. The fundraising is open on Kickstarter until February 16.
