Instagram Service Statistics Turned Into Infographics

Photoworld calculated how far printed versions of all the pictures uploaded to the Instagram in a year could travel.

Designers of interactive infographics have demonstrated what will happen if someone printed out all of the images uploaded in one year to Instagram, and then stacked them. According to the calculations every 37 minutes users are uploading 443 meters of photos, which is equal to the height of the Empire State Building. In twelve hours the photos reach the top of Mt. Everest (8,848 m), in two days – the point of Felix Baumgartner’s famous space jump (39,045m), in six days – the outer edge of the Earth’s atmosphere (100 km), and in 26 days the photos reach all the way to the International Space Station (460 km). Finally, a year’s amount, 21,9 billion photos, would reach the height of 6,351 km.
